April 2011

My son Jem has been attending classes with Denise Byrne since early January. Since he has attended his Maths and English have improved greatly, and he has learned things that are simply not covered in his primary school. His confidence in these subjects has improved. He has also attended the NVR and VR days which will give him confidence in these tests too. Perhaps most importantly he has enjoyed attending the classes, he thinks they are 'absolutely fantastic' (that's a direct quote!). This is down to Denise's teaching, as he says that she is very understanding, 'you feel free to say what you think about something' and that he thinks the classes are really interesting. Personally, I like the fact that they are group sessions, I think it's nice for the kids to be around other kids when they are working in their own time - it somehow makes it more social! I have found Denise to be excellent with the children, and extremely diligent around the setting and marking of homework and making sure we are doing the correct things in our own time to help Jem pass the exams he will take in October. I have no hesitation in recommending her as a tutor.

“I am very happy to provide a letter in support of Denise Byrne and the success of her tutoring. My daughter attended a series of 11+ preparation classes in English taught by Denise from September-December 2008. My daughter enjoyed these and found Denise to be a pleasant and stimulating teacher. Her methods are obviously effective – my daughter was offered places at all the schools she applied to – City of London, South Hampstead, Channing...many of them in particular commenting on the strength of her performance in English.

So I would definitely recommend Denise to those considering tutoring in 11+ English. She is also a very pleasant and likeable tutor whom parents and children like and enjoy working with.”
